Preparations for Metaxourgeio's third annual Carnival Street Party have begun! This outdoor, multicultural carnival will take place Sunday, February 19th. 

In 2010 all went well, despite the rain. 

In 2011 Carnival participation exceeded our expectations. 

And in 2012 our Carnival will be even better!

This is how you can participate: Review the various work groups listed, find those you want to join and become an active member of the most original and colorful carnival celebrations in Athens!

The Work Groups:

1) Group "Music" - Music for our ears -> Elias (0030)699 3128869 maria@oddworks.gr

2) Group "Shops / Schools in the Region"- Will greet carnival participants with treats to eat, will organize events outside the shops, schools etc. -> Maria (0030)697 4383646 maria@oddworks.gr

3) Group "Construction" - Takes responsibility for the construction of the Maypole and for the King of the Carnival, which is a parade float that will be traveling on a tricycle during the celebration. Meet every day (except Wednesday) after lunch @ 30 Mycalis, Metaxourgeio-> Nicole (0030)693 5361631 nikoleandriotaki@hotmail.com

5) Group "Safety with Whistles" - Uses a whistle to coordinate the progress of carnival participants. Helps to watch for passing cars, maintains a watchful eye on musicians, food and drink, etc-> All

17) Group "Fire Jumper Assistants"  - Outside the theaters, just  like last year, we will light small fires that carnival participants will leap over> Jasmine (0030)697 7976622

Potential Needs: 

18) Group "Tricycle" - Accompanied by the town crier, establishes a tricycle path within the area-> Costas (0030)698 1771256 / kostas.potamitis@hotmail.com

19) Group "Music" - Two music workshops of three hours in duration for at least 20 children. They will make a presentation that can be performed at the starting point of Avdi Square > Vasilis (0030)693 6998744 / batuca@tellas.gr

20) Group "Trays" - Chinese lanterns will be lit and hung high, either during the end of the carnival or on another day, if it is safe to do so. -> Costas loco (0030)698 6603321
